Diablo Evolution

Hi,
I remember back the days I found the PR-Demo. I already had the Diablo original CD and as I played the Pre-release-Demo the fist time I was nearly shocked about all those changes.
You must know that this is some good years ago, as I discovered the Demo I was at the age of 12 or 13 years. And because of my bad english I stopped playing Diablo and the PR-Demo. But Diablo had have something "mystical" to me, and I can't forget the PR Demo so I started comparing those versions and I found something interesting that isn't listed on this page (But I think I told MYSTERY this some time ago in ICQ)
In the PR-Demo you can walk though some rocks in the near of wirt, it's right behind the cave entrance (in retail) in the PR the big rock what build the Cave entrance is missed.
I discovered this accidantly when I checked out the upper region of Tristram in the PR-DEMO.

but at the last picture your char stops, because the passage between the next rocks istn't big enough (i think it's a bug that it's too small).
I discovered this a long time ago, at the time of my discover I didn't know this page and I thought this won't be interesting for anyone else but know I think the opposite.
I also realized the bridge behind the wall near Adria and associated those two facts.
There are following options now:
1, the path between the rocks leads to the bridge behind the wall (that was I tinking when I discovered it, but didn't know it's purpose). But, how Furry already said, it is possible that the whole thing lead to Andariels lair, and Furry did you mean the earth-crack that you can see on my pictures??.
2, Since I know this Site I belive this is the more possible option. It's the Quest Island of the sunless sea! I remember reading excluded quest with a Hex editor and there was a passage " Pick the right Rocks..." and since then I think this belongs to the "Island of the Sunless Sea" Quest.

II. Tristram Expanded
I think Furry's screenshot isn't a complete fake (but stange, must be modified),
Tristram's environment was bigger in the PR Demo as in the retail I think.
Simple Explain: Blizzard needed more space for the excluded quests, Andariel should take place in town and Island of the sunless Sea need also a bit of space 'cause of the Rock "picking".

Another possibility for Island of the Sunless sea is, that the rocks you have to pick are in the west not in the north, 'cause there are also many rocks.

Interesting about the rocks. I never really tried that. I think they wanted to have the entrance there from the start, but either didn't make the actual "entrance" code, or removed it from PR without removing the ability to walk in that spot.

I've went back to that Hellfire shot with alternate nest graphics, and finally managed to "read" (and by that I mean "figure out", since it's garbled beyond readability) the enemy name. I'm 95% sure I'm correct.

I looked closer at the third line, and "hit points" are in single digits.
That means it's a creature from the first few levels.

Out of all creature from the first few levels, only one seems to fit: "SKELETON". If I look very closely, I can even kinda understand how exactly the image compression squashed and garbled that name, which doesn't happen with all other names I tried back then.

So yeah, the pasted HUD is a description of a skeleton. That's definitely a mock-up, though as (I think) others pointed out, the alternate nest graphic might still be genuine. I, however, am taking it with a grain of salt. The mockupness puts a huge "maaaayyyybe" status over the find.

what entrace do you mean? The entrace to island of the sunless sea or the cave entrace?

Aside from you, I think I'm the only one who still visits the forum occasionally.

I mean the cave entrance. Since the "walk through" spot is in the exact same place, I think either the "change level" part wasn't coded yet, or maybe it was coded and then REMOVED, but they didn't make the spot "unwalkable" again.

you're right... i didn't see here anyone else the last month...
but i think your theorie is wrong...
I think diablo was planned without those additional entraces like catacombs, caves and hell.
You just have one entrace through the church and you have to get some town portals with you hehe

I have no idea what's behind the blizzard evolution project. Probably trimayne had other priorities and had to abandon it. Maybe he'll resurface with a fully working blizzard evolution portal
